The Genesis of TGC
The Gamification Company’s journey is one of discovery and pivots. The story starts in 2012, when some of us, having spent a couple of decades in leadership positions in the corporate world, decided to come together to launch a new venture.
Paathshala was born, with a focus on developing life skills and workplace competencies amongst students graduating from tier 2 and 3 cities across India. We also launched corporate training initiatives and soon made deep inroads into the same.
The journey between 2012 to 2015 and the first pivot
Building on behavioral sciences concepts such as ‘Appreciative Inquiry’ and the ‘Value Creation Model’, we developed high impact products in the education space, Yogya®, Acharya®, SeTU®, Masti® which spanned the entire education lifecycle right from early education to teacher training. Over 5000 students and 1000 teachers were trained, and great outcomes were recorded across the country.
Through a strategic association with a UK based organization, Café Style Speed Training, we entered the space of neuroscience of play based learning and developed a deep expertise in this field.
We recognized a greater potential of scale and depth in the area of corporate training. So the first pivot was in 2015, when we decided to phase out education operations and focus on the corporate segment. We also made a decision to continue to enhance our education assets and plan a reintroduction in the future, based on a digital approach.
Entry into gamification and the 2nd pivot in 2017
In 2017, we first stepped into the world of gamification and technology-based products when we were chosen by Standard Chartered Bank – Global Business Support Services to implement gamification in their contact center to enhance employee motivation and business performance. Thanks to our expertise in behavioral sciences, organization development and business applications, we successfully won the contract against well-entrenched platforms. This was the start of our gamification journey where we started building a deep expertise in neuroscience of play and the gamification principles built on the Octalysis Framework.
Since then, we have made deep inroads into gamification-led transformation programs and technology solutions. We developed and implemented Coroebus®, our flagship gamification platform and conceptualized Skillmuni® a gamified campus-to-career ecosystem that allowed us to bring in all the products we have built in the education space and offer them in a cohesive, scalable manner. This led to our next and possible most defining pivot, the birth of THE GAMIFICATION COMPANY.
Formation of THE GAMIFICATION COMPANY, the third and defining pivot in 2019
With the realization that we had finally found our real calling, one that built on the deep knowledge capital we had gathered, we set up TGC Technologies in January 2019. Our brand name is The Gamification Company, and we have created a suite of gamification platforms and solutions that are brands in their own right.
In 2023, we launched two products for the call center industry – Game of Phones and CubiCall. Our successful implementations for market-leading organizations in the banking and insurance sectors are testimony to our product design and solutioning expertise.
A significant milestone in our journey was when we won the Top Startup of the Year award for 2022 by Tata AIA Life Insurance and the Confederation of Indian Industry at the CII Startupreneur Awards in New Delhi.
